Thirty-six acres of land has already been acquired for this purpose, the minister said.
An amount of Rs 25 crore has been sanctioned by the Finance Commission for construction of the stadium, the first of its kind in the hill state, Hridayesh said.
The Sports ministry has given its nod for providing 25 per cent of the cost of the project to the Uttar Pradesh Construction Corporation, the executing agency.
The minister, an MLA from Haldwani, said if everything goes as per plans, the stadium will be completed in two years.
