International Tractors Ltd (ITL) Wednesday announced the launch of Solis and Yanmar range of tractors in the domestic market.

The company, which currently sells tractors in domestic market under the Sonalika range, plans to sell Solis and Yanmar tractors from a separate premium retail chain across the country.

Earlier, Solis tractors manufactured at Hoshiarpur in Punjab were only for export, making ITL India's leading exporter of tractors. The company has also tied up with Japan's Yanmar Agribusiness to launch Yanmar brand of tractors in the country.

"We are looking to sell 50,000 Solis and Yanmar tractors over the next two years. We plan to have around 400 retail outlets to sell around 40 models of these premium brands," ITL Executive Director Raman Mittal told PTI.

The new chain would be the best in the business and would even be comparable to passenger vehicle dealerships, he added. The company has opened its first premium dealership in Pune.

The new tractor range would come in 20-120 HP range and cater to various applications.

"We are looking to lead the market of application based solutions to solve two major problems of farmers -- water scarcity and greater output," Mittal said.

ITL began exports of Solis tractors to Europe in 2011. It is now one of the top- five tractor brands in Europe.

Commenting on tie up with ITL, Yanmar Holdings Co Ltd Director Ken Okuyama said: "Given Yanmar's strong footprint in Japan and Southeast Asia and the brand leadership of ITL's Solis in overseas markets, we are confident that the partnership between Yanmar and ITL will propel both companies to new heights in the Indian market."
