An alleged interstate fraudster who had duped gullible investors to the tune of crores of rupees by floating chit fund companies has been arrested by the Crime Branch of Delhi Police.
According to police, Naveen Singh (35), a resident of Sector-19, Dwarka had duped innocent investors off their money and had fraudulently collected crores of rupees. He had been absconding since long.
He was wanted in two cases of cheating one of South Rohini Police Station, Delhi of the year 2013 and another of City Fatehabad Police Station, Haryana of the year 2012.
On August 23, a tip off was received that Singh would be coming near Tikri Border, Delhi. Following this information, Crime Branch laid a trap and he was apprehended.
"Singh along with his family and other associates had founded a Chit Fund Company at Sector-3, Rohini, Delhi in the name of 'NCR Multi National'. They lured innocent people to invest in their company and promised to give high rate of interest every month on the invested amount," said Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ashok Chand.
They lured the investors to invest in their Company in the form of Recurring Deposit, Fixed Deposit and Monthly Instalment Scheme and received crores of rupees from the investors and then fled, police said.
After duping people here, he floated other companies in the name of Wealth-care, DIR-Delhi, MHC-Bombay at different locations in India and using the same modus operandi, he lured innocent investors to invest in these companies and then fled after collecting crores of rupees.
Concerned police stations have been informed about his arrest.
