It also said it would put pressure on the UPA government to promote nationalisation in place of privatisation to safeguard the interest of the working class.
President of the group Chandrasekhar Dubey while inaugurating the convention said the trade body would intensify its efforts to protect the interest of the unorganised sector workers.
"INTUC will put pressure on the government to promote nationalisation in place of privatisation so that interest of workers are protected," Dubey said at the convention.
According to a statement, Dubey expressed his support to FDI in retail saying that it will generate large-scale employment.
He said resolutions will be passed at the two-day convention on the issues related to fundamental problems confronting workers engaged in agriculture, coal, steel, cement and small scale industries.
The delegates would also discuss international issues concerning workers interest, he said.

National secretary INTUC Lalan Choubey said a resolution will be brought in the convention for regularising around 40 to 45 crore unorganised workers engaged in small industry and self employment enterprises.
He said sick industries should be handed over to workers so that they can run it profitably.
