The participants were apprised about various aspects of IPR, copyrights, falsification of trademark and legal provisions for protection of these rights at the interactive session on 'Intellectual Property Rights Enforcement', organised by the state police department in collaboration with Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).
The day-long interactive session was attended by deputy superintendents of police, inspectors and sub-inspectors.
In his opening remarks, DGP Sanjay Kumar gave an overview of various issues connected with protection of intellectual property rights (IPR).
He said investigating agencies must keep them abreast with legal provisions, problems and best practices related to enforcement, protection and investigation of IPR cases.
Four sessions were organised during which issues like 'an overview of all forms of copy rights', 'problems and issues related to counterfeiting and copyrights', 'falsification of trademarks and enforcement', and 'protection and investigation of IPR under existing legal provisions' were discussed.
The need for better collaborative efforts and partnership between police and rights holders was stressed at the interactive meet to effectively combat counterfeiting and piracy.
