Investors, duped by ponzi schemes in Odisha, today hit the streets in the state capital demanding opening of grievance cells in all blocks of the state to lodge complaints.
Carrying placards and banners, the small depositors shouted anti-government slogans near the state assembly and demanded opening of grievance cells in all the 314 blocks of the state for people to file complaints.
"The government has not taken any stringent action against chitfund companies and their properties have not been confiscated," said a protestor adding that political patronage of ponzi company owners needed to be investigated.
The state government has set up a commission of inquiry to investigate ponzi companies and set up a corpus fund of Rs 300 crore for the benefit of the investors, Health minister Damodar Rout said.
Rout appealed to the depositors to cooperate with the state government instead of hitting the streets.
