Inzamam, who retired from all forms of cricket in 2007, scored a fluent 46 and his son made 14 runs in 25 balls.

"It was the first time that I batted with my father in a match and he was guiding me after every over telling me my strengths and what I was doing wrong. He guided me not only like a kind father but also like an experienced coach," Ibtasam told reporters at the LCCA ground.

The match was played during the annual celebrations of the famous Muslim Gymkhana club.

Ibtasam, a student of class seven, is a right-hander like Inzamam and said he wanted to emulate the feats of his father in the sport.

"I love cricket and I know when I start playing regularly there will be extra pressure on me because I am Inzamam's son. But I want to play for my country one day," he said.

Former Test player, Mohsin Kamal noted that even in India the son of Sachin Tedulkar had taken to cricket.

"It would be great if Inzamam's son is groomed and becomes a top batsman like his father. These kids have cricket and talent in their blood because of their fathers," he said referring to Ibtasam and Arjun Tendulkar.

Ibtasam said he was nervous batting with his father at the other end.

"I stayed at the crease for 36 minutes and they were the best of my life." PTI Cor AH
