IPS officers of Odisha today condoled the death of police inspector Dilip Sahu, who was gunned sown by dacoits last week in Keonjhar district.
Sahu, Inspector-in-charge of Ghatagaon police station, died on duty after dacoits shot him during a chase on Saturday evening.
"Sahu sacrificed his life at the highest altar of duty and attained martyrdom. His remarkable sense of duty, indomitable courage and unflinching commitment to profession will set example to a generation of police officers," a press release issued by IPS Association said.
The association requested the state government to adequately compensate the next of kin of Sahu by providing a job and house to his wife and bear the educational expenses of his child.
Born in 1977 in Kalahandi district, Sahu joined the Odisha police in 2005 as a sub-inspector and served in the Left wing extremist affected districts of Gajapati and Nuapada with distinction before being promoted to the rank of Inspector of police last year.
