IPS officer escapes grenade attack by militants

A senior police officer today had a narrow escape as a grenade hurled at his vehicle by militants missed the target in Sopore area of north Kashmir's Baramulla district.
"At about 5 pm, militants hurled a grenade towards the bulletproof bunker vehicle of SDPO, Sopore Ashish Mishra (IPS) near the railway bridge at Tarzoo in Sopore," a police official said.

Meanwhile, militants hurled another grenade on a vehicle of security forces at Model Town of Sopore area in north Kashmir' Baramulla district but it exploded on the roadside without causing any damage, a police official said.
This was the second grenade attack in the north Kashmir town within an hour, he added.
