Senior IPS officer Nazrul Islam today moved a city court seeking cognisance of allegations he has made against top officers of West Bengal government, claiming that they denied him promotion in accordance with his seniority at the behest of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
"A petition in this regard was moved before the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, Bankshall Court, who said that he would forward the complaint to Hare Street Police Station or alternatively call for a status report," the IPS officer's lawyer Gulam Mustafa said here.
"Nazrul Islam has complained that at the behest of the Chief Minister, the present Chief Secretary, Home Secretary, DGP and another official in the CMO conspired to deprive him from posting in accordance with his status and seniority," Mustafa said.
"Nazrul Islam had filed a complaint in this regard before Hare Street Police Station of Kolkata Police in early August, but the officer in-charge of the police station did not initiate any action," Mustafa added.
"He had then forwarded the complaint to the commissioner of Kolkata Police, but nothing happened," the lawyer said.
"As such, the petition was moved before the CMM to take cognisance of the allegations," Mustafa said.
