To get under the skin of the character, Ira tried to incorporate Joan's qualities in her character Jay in the film, directed by Agneya Singh.
"Agneya had given me a book on Joan Baez and he had given me a reference of her. She had a brilliant voice and she was also a philanthropist, she worked for causes all her life, she also was an activist. I tried to bring those qualities somewhere in Jay's character," Ira said.
Ira who has acted in films like "Marigold", "Aisha", "Turning 30", thinks a lot of young girls will relate to her role.
"The film is a slice of life. It's like a chapter taken out of our life and we've just portrayed that. The film is a journey of four characters, of course on a symbolic, metaphorical level. It is also the internal journey of four characters," Ira said.
The film, which also stars Imaad Shah, Auritra Ghosh And Raaghav Chanana, releases next month.
