Pakistan Foreign Office Spokesperson Qazi Khalilullah announced the visit of the Iranian Foreign Minister today.
"The purpose of the visit is to review bilateral ties between the two countries in the context of Iran's recent nuclear deal," he said.
Zarif would have in-depth talks with Pakistan Prime Minister's Adviser on National Security and Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz. He would also call on Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
Taliban are believed to be in contact with Iran and Pakistan would like to get its support for the peace initiative which has been temporarily halted after the announcement of long-time Taliban chief Mullah Omar's death.
It would be Zarif's second trip this year after his visit in April during the Yemen crisis.
The world powers -- the United States, Russia, China, Britain, France and Germany -- and Iran on July 14 struck an agreement under which Tehran will curb some but not all aspects of its nuclear programme in exchange for a lifting of international sanctions that have pulverised its economy in recent years.
