IRCTC discusses super luxury train proposal with Telangana

IRCTC and the Telangana State Tourism Development Corporation (TSTDC) today discussed a proposal for routing the seven-star super luxury Maharaja Express through the state.
IRCTC CMD A K Manocha met TSTDC Chairman Pervaram Ramulu and other officials to discuss the proposal, a state government release said.
"...Discussed the proposal for operating seven star super luxury Maharaja train travelling from Konkan to Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu, passing through Telangana state with halting at Secunderabad and Kazipet junctions," it said.
The world's most expensive luxury train Maharaja Express will be introduced in southern India en-route Goa, Maharashtra and Kerala from the monsoon season next year.
"The officials of IRCTC briefed that the Maharaja train offers an unlimited amount of food and wine with important tourist places (local sight-seeing) near by the halting places.
"The menu includes Continental, Chinese, Thai, Mughlai and Indian dishes. The rooms are lavishly furnished in regal styles and the charge is USD 990 per night for a couple," the release said.
On Ramulu's request, Manocha agreed to shortly run three-star luxury trains from Secunderabad to Shirdi, Goa and Tirupati with basic tariff structure of bus fares, it added.
Manocha also sought cooperation from Telangana Tourism and Culture Department and TSTDC for providing back end services such as local transportation (for local sight-seeing), accommodation, catering, entry tickets with tour escort services for groups which are booked by IRCTC for promoting tourism destinations of Basar, Warangal, Hyderabad and Bhadrachalam, it added.
