Irked by delay in tracing missing boy, HC summons DCP

The HC was hearing Habeas Corpus petition filed by the boy's father.

Following the court's order, Deputy Commissioner of Police Pravin Patil appeared before the division bench of Justices A M Khanvilkar and A R Joshi, and assured that the case would be transferred to `Missing Bureau' of police in a day or two, for a speedy action.

Regarding the case registered against two persons, arrested on the suspicion of kidnapping the boy, DCP Patil said Vanrai police in suburban Goregaon would conduct the probe.

Recording his statement, the judges adjourned the hearing till August 13.

According to Varis Ansari, the petitioner, his son Shah Alam Ansari went missing on January 13, and a complaint was filed the next day, but the police were not taking any steps to find the boy.

According to Ansari, his son was kidnapped by Lalbabu Yadav and Jainuddin Ansari, who were subsequently arrested, but the boy was not traced.
