The Indian Revenue Service (IRS) Association today contributed more than Rs 34 lakh to Finance Minister P Chidambaram for providing relief and rehabilitation to people of Uttarakhand who were affected by flood last year.
"IRS Association today presented cheques worth over Rs 34,60,458 to the Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram," the finance ministry said in a statement.
The members of IRS association in a letter to the Finance Minister said that they were equally grieved and propose to lend a helping hand to the people of Uttarakhand for their relief and rehabilitation, the statement added.
Cheques are drawn in favour of the Uttarakhand Chief Minister's Relief Fund and will be sent to the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand.
In June 2013, a multi-day cloudburst had caused devastating floods and landslides in Uttarakhand.
