The ISKCON Mayapur will celebrate Jagannath Rath Yatra amid much fervour and frolic on Wednesday.
Around 50,000 devotees are expected to visit Mayapur on the occasion when the decorated carts of Lord Jagannath, Baladev and Subhadra will be taken out from the Jagannath temple Rajapur to Chandradaya temple, the Gundicha temple.
The procession which will start from Rajapur at 2 PM will feature congregational chanting, dance, musical performances by the devotees.
"The most unique feature of Rath Yatra at Mayapur is that it becomes a symbol of equality and integration as people from various communities enthusiastically participate in it," ISKCON Public relation head Madhava Gouranga Das said.
ISKCON authorities will set up a number of booths on the way of the procession to render help to people in case of any emergency, he said.
At Chandradaya temple, the deities will be kept till Ulta Rath and during this period everyday cultural events will be rendered for the pleasure of Lord Jagannath, he stated.
According to established scriptures, the festival commemorates the annual journey of Lord Jagannath, Lord Baladev, and their sister Subhadra to their aunt's place, the Gundicha Temple and anyone who gets the opportunity to pull their cart is bestowed with the benediction of washing away all the sins.
The Rath Yatra was first celebrated by ISKCON in San Francisco in 1967 by HDG AC Bhaktivedanta Swami Srila Prabhupada and currently it is being organised in all the 650 centres across the world.
