The student body -- Students' Islamic Organisation of India made the request while referring to two-year-old Allahabad High Court order which had called for making it compulsory for all those who drew salary from the state exchequer to send their children to government schools.
"Kendriya Vidyalayas across the country, which are run by the central government, have been providing good education. There is no reason why schools run by state governments can not achieve similar standards. The Allahabad High Court order could have gone a long way in improving the lot of government schools in UP had it been complied with," the outfit's national secretary Tauseef Ahmed Madikeri told reporters here.
Madikeri said the High Court had specifically stated that once children of elected representatives, government servants, members of judiciary start going to state-run schools, it would lead to conditions that would necessitate improving the lot of such educational institutions.
