The ISM had first written to the state government in 2013, after which it contacted then state education minister Bratya Basu in this connection, ISM Director Prof DC Panigrahi told reporters today.
"We are waiting for the state government's response to the request. We have written to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to grant us a piece of land to set up a regional institute here," Panigrahi said.
"We are waiting to hear from West Bengal government and we are sure to have a positive response. We have not lost hope... We just need land and the rest will be taken care by the Centre," Panigrahi said.
Meanwhile, the ISM is all set to establish its regional centre in Andhra Pradesh and the state government has already offered around 388 acres of land.

Meanwhile, the ISM has established its extension centre here in the city, the first outside Dhanbad which will be operational from August.
The ISM will offer a three-year M Tech programme for working executives besides part time courses on Executive MBA and Certificate Courses on relevant contemporary subjects at its Kolkata Extension Centre at Rajarhat, ISM Chairman Prof DD Mishra said.
