Isolated heavy rain forecast in Gangetic Bengal

Isolated heavy rain was forecast in Gangetic West Bengal till tomorrow as the region experienced heavy downpour as an effect of a depression that moved towards Jharkhand, MeT office said today.
The depression that lay over Jessore in Bangladesh, has moved towards Jharkhand moving across Gangetic West Bengal as an effect of which the districts in the region are likely to receive heavy rain, the MeT department said in its forecast till tomorrow morning.
Krishnagar in Nadia district received 133.2 mm rainfall, the highest in the state in 24 hours from yesterday morning.
Among other places that received heavy precipitation were Sriniketan which recorded 86.8 mm rainfall, while Asansol got 79.4 mm and Burdwan 63.2 mm rainfall.
In Kolkata, which received heavy rain last night, the precipitation was recorded at 59.7 mm, the MeT department said.
