The police made this submission in its plea for extension of the probe period into the February 13 attack on Israeli diplomat here, allegedly involving among others, journalist Syed Mohammad Kazmi, who has been arrested in the case.

The police said it is presently engaged in a time-consuming probe spanning various countries, including Iran, Malaysia, Thailand and Israel to ascertain if there was a "larger conspiracy" behind the February 13 terror attack on Israeli diplomat here.

Sources said the police in its report has added that it needed more time for probe as it was not easy to gather evidence from other sovereign countries.

It has said during its investigation, evidence of the roles of the nationals of other countries too has surfaced.

In its report filed in the court of Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Vinod Yadav, the public prosecutor said that to ascertain the persons or the group behind the February 13 incident, the use of similar devices and the persons involved in similar incidents within and outside India have been examined.

The police said its probe has revealed that on February 13 itself, a bid was made to bomb an Israeli vehicle by sticking a magnetic device to it in Georgia but the attempt was foiled by the law enforcement agencies there.

On February 14, two persons of Iranian origin were apprehended in Thailand while they were trying to cause an explosion and one other was caught in Malaysia. (More)
