"Yes, we have changed three events in the Olympic programme and changed to mixed gender team events. This is a proposal which is now going to the International Olympic committee for further consideration. The final decision lies in the hands of IOC," International Shooting Sport Federation secretary general Franz Schreiber told the media here today.
After an exhaustive two-year evaluation process, the ISSF Ad-Hoc Committee recommended replacing the double trap men's event with a trap mixed gender team event, the 50m rifle prone men's event with a 10m air rifle mixed gender team event and the 50m pistol men's event with a 10m air pistol mixed gender team event. This proposal was developed to preserve discipline parity and retain 15 Olympic shooting events -- 5 Rifle, 5 Pistol, 5 Shotgun.
