Elected teachers' representatives of Delhi University today raised the issue of "adoption" of the 3rd and 4th amendments of the UGC regulation related to teachers' recruitment by the Academic Council.
The teachers alleged that the press statement issued by the Delhi University is contradictory to what transpired in the meeting yesterday.
The DU Teachers' Association too slammed the university alleging "misrepresentation of facts".
The university, however, at the Executive Council (EC) meeting said that there is no option with the university but to accept the regulations in principle, but it has recorded the members objections and the committee set up to look at the document will look at all the issues from the university's perspective.
DUTA meanwhile stated that press release issued by the university stating that "that the 3rd and 4th amendments of the UGC regulation were adopted in principle" and the failure to mention that the committee to revisit the recommendations would be expanded.
Demanding a clarification from the university, the DUTA and EC members also asked for "comprehensive proposals be brought before the AC that include the proper implementation of the DOPT Roster, withdrawal of the 'illegal' decision of the EC to implement the 2nd amendment to the UGC Regulations with respect to promotions retrospectively from December 31, 2008.
