A delegation from Isuzu Motors visited the SEZ situated at Tada, about 110 km from here, a press release said today.
"The team went around the campus and visited the Isuzu plant, which is under the final phase of construction. Commercial production of the pickup trucks is expected to begin in April 2016. Isuzu is investing Rs 3,000 crore facility," the release said.
Aimed at increasing the local component, Isuzu Motors plans to source components from 200 vendors in India when it begins production.
The plant would have an initial capacity of producing 50,000 units, which can be ramped upto 1.20 lakh units.
"With the presence of major OEMs like Kobelco Group, Isuzu, Hero Corp and several automotive ancillary industries like NS instruments, Nittan Valve, Piolax, there exists a strong ecosystem for automobile sector in Sri City," Sri City SEZ Managing Director Ravindra Sannareddy said.
