Isuzu Motors launches 'D Max' in Kerala

Isuzu Motors today launched in Kerala its India-made range of 'D-Max', one of the largest selling pickup trucks.
The D-Max range comprises of three models - two cabin options and two deck options.
DMAX Single Cab will be priced at an introductory launch price of Rs 5.99 lakh and the DMAX Space Cab will be priced at Rs 6.19 lakh for the flat deck variant and Rs 7.09 lakh (all ex-showroom Kochi) for the arched deck variant, respectively.
Speaking at the launch, Takashi Kikuchi, Managing Director, Isuzu Motors India, said Indian pickup truck was one of largest and fastest growing segments in Commercial Vehicles (CV), accounting for 35 per cent of the total CV market.
"We are observing a gradual shift in customer preference from Small Commercial Vehicles to Pick-ups," he said, adding that by 2023 the segment was expected become the world's largest pickup market.
Company Deputy Managing Director Shigeru Wakabayashi said D-MAX was one of the world's favorite pickup truck brands, inheriting Isuzu's diesel engine technology.
The company has opened its first dealership in Mumbai and aims to open 60 outlets across India by end of 2015-16.
At present, the company has presence across five states of Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, officials said.
