A special CBI court today remanded in 14-day judicial custody Income Tax deputy commissioner Jai Prakash and two inspectors, arrested on charges of accepting bribe of Rs 23 lakh in Karimanagar district of Telangana.
Jai Prakash and inspectors Ramu and Bhupathi -- all posted in Krim Nagar -- were arrested last night by CBI.
According to CBI, Jai Prakash had visited premises of a businessman on October 16 along with Ramu where he had allegedly demanded Rs 25 lakh as bribe for settling tax issues.
Last morning, the businessman had allegedly paid Rs 2 lakh from the agreed amount to Inspector Ramu.
A team of CBI's Anti-Corruption Bureau in Hyderabad laid a trap last evening and caught the trio when they were allegedly accepting the remaining bribe amount, CBI officials said.
