Congress today said the continuance of Vasundhara Raje as Rajasthan Chief Minister has become untenable after emergence of a document purportedly carrying her signature to back Lalit Modi's immigration application in the UK.
Rajasthan Congress chief Sachin Pilot made a strong pitch for her resignation saying no amount of BJP support can help her now.
"With the latest document coming out that Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje signed an affidavit supporting the fugitive Lalit Modi, it has become untenable for Raje to continue as the Chief Minister of Rajasthan," he said.
Pilot, a former Union Minister, was speaking after media reports showed a document purportedly signed by Raje in which she allegedly backed the former IPL chief's immigration plea in Britain.
Claiming that Raje's actions were "illegal and chargeable under various sections of law", he said that "if a common citizen had signed an affidavit supporting Lalit Modi or any other fugitive, government agencies would have taken immediate action."
But when the same thing is done by a high ranking BJP leader, then the laws are not applicable, he claimed.

"There seems to be two laws in the country -- one for high ranking BJP leaders and another one for the common citizen," he said.
The Congress party will continue its protests till Raje steps down, Pilot said, adding "Without delay, the Chief Minister has to resign and no amount of protection from the BJP can help her."
Attacking Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said his promise of having zero tolerance for corruption and crony capitalism had "fallen flat".
"More the BJP tries to defend the indefensible, the more credibility they lose everyday," he said.
