"It is mere foolishness to dream of Congress-free India. This is a 130-year old organisation, which came into existence to free India from Britishers. People came together and formed Congress for that purpose. When you (BJP) claim to make India Congress-free, does that mean that all those people were wrong?" Vaghela said.
He was addressing party leaders and workers as part of Congress' foundation day celebrations.
Vaghela expressed hope that Congress will once again rise from the ashes and make a comeback in Gujarat. "Ups and downs are part of politics. I am sure Congress will bounce back and uproot this government, which is acting like a dictator," he said.
The Congress leader also criticised the Bharatiya Kisan Sangh (BKS) for withdrawing its agitation on the issue of cotton MSP.
"BKS leaders are on the payroll of BJP. Therefore, it is natural that they will support the party only and not the farmers. I urge the farmers not to trust the Kisan Sangh" said Vaghela.
