Made on a budget of USD 100 million, the film stars a newcomer, Suraj Sharma, in the lead while other pivotal roles are played by actors like Tabu, Irrfan Khan and Adil Hussain.

"I hope it is time that the West and India work together and I see the line is already blurring. It is way over due and I have immense respect fo Tabu and Irrfan who are a part of this project," Womark said after attending the film's premiere at IFFI here.

Womark said he was overwhelmed to see the response to the film, which was screened to packed house.

"I was overwhelmed to see the kind of response we got. Since the film has such a deep connect with India it was amazing to see the audience response to that connect last night. 'Life of Pi' celebrates the power of story telling. I feel honoured to have worked with Ang on this movie," he said.

"Life of Pi", shot in 3D and based on the celebrated novel by Yann Martel, follows the story of a young boy, who is adrift in the Pacific Ocean for more than 200 days with a Bengal Tiger.

Womark, however, said that only 200 or 300 shots in the film used real animals, rest of the work was done digitally.

"No animals were harmed while shooting and most of it was digital. While shooting with Tigers we kept in mind the basic requirements," he said.
