Working with her famous mother Meryl Streep was not intimidating for Mamie Gummer in "Ricky and the Flash", a Jonathan Demme movie about a rocker trying to reconnect with her estranged daughter.
Gummer first teamed up with her mother when she was just a baby in "Heartburn" and now they are back together in the upcoming movie, whose script has been penned by "Juno" writer Diablo Cody.
The 31-year-old actress said it was a wonderful experience for her to act alongside her multiple Oscar-winning mother.
"I am among four other people on the planet that would not be actually intimidated by my mom, the others being the other people that I'm related to. It was a really wonderful experience. Honestly it was, it was really profound and one that I will treasure," Gummer said at the Summer of Sony event in Cancun, Mexico recently.
The actress may share a great relationship with Streep in real-life but in the movie she plays the role of a daughter who resents that her mother abandoned them for a career in music.
"It was a little bit disorienting, because it was challenging to disassociate from the person that you're most intrinsically connected to in the world. But once we kind of dug in and figured out the characters and the world that we were creating, and the story that we wanted to tell, within a few days it was really quite easy."

When asked about the advantages and disadvantages of working with Streep, Gummer said it was really easy for them to communicate on the sets though she found it hard to say mean things to her mother in the movie.
"Advantages, I would say there is an undeniable shorthand. We could communicate and express things wordlessly and subtly, I hope, I think. So, that was good. Disadvantages were, I guess, our relationship in the film, the characters are so different than my mother and my own.
"And so having to kind of spit vitriol and fire and have this real anger that Julie has for her mother was a bit of a challenge for me... But that's all."
Sony Pictures is releasing "Ricky And The Flash", also starring Kevin Kline, Audra McDonald, Rick Springfield and Sebastian Stan, in India on August 28.
