In a statement, IUML all-India president and former Union minister E Ahamed said this showed that the Devendra Fadnavis government is not prepared to honour the legitimate legal and constitutional benefits for the backward classes and minorities.
Ahamed said this decision also went against the assurance given in Parliament by Prime Minister Narendra Modi that the legal and constitutional guarantees for minorities would be protected.
Expressing surprise about reports in a section of media that separatist activist Masarat Aalam was a Muslim League member, Ahamed said IUML does not even have a unit in Jammu and Kashmir.
