The youth wing of the Congress alleged the incident was a "failure of not just the Central government but also of the state (Jammu and Kashmir) government which is standing on just coalition, without any ideologies of its own".
The peaceful march started from Indian Youth Congress Office at Raisina Road and ended at Jantar Mantar.
"Today's youth demands that Home Minister Rajnath Singh stop 'just' condemning these unethical acts and take some action. We are tired of hearing your hollow words. It is time that you act and return us our basic rights and needs," the IYC said in a statement and sought his "resignation".
The march was led by IYC Secretary Sitaram Lamba and its national media in-charge Amrish Ranjan Pandey. All DPYC office-bearers were present along with youth members.
"Our heartfelt condolences to all killed in this incident... The pilgrimage has been an integral part of the Indian culture and religious sentiments," the IYC said.
Every caste, community and faith follows a certain pattern of pilgrimage and it is very essential that the government provide them security.
