J and K asks Centre to fund incentives for migrants

The state cabinet, which met under the chairmanship Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, approved a proposal to enhance the incentives for Kashmiri Pandits willing to return to the Valley, an official spokesman said.

"The cabinet recommended the proposal for enhancement of package of incentives for funding to Government of India under the Prime Minister's package for the return and rehabilitation of Kashmiri migrants," the spokesman said.

He said the state Revenue department has also been ordered to work out an employment package for those members of the minority community who did not migrate from the Valley.

The cabinet approved extension of Chairman Board of Professional Entrance Examinations (BOPEE) Mushtaq Ahmed for the period of two months from June 17 this year and the appointment of R D Sharma, Dean Academics Jammu University, as Chairman BOPPE, the spokesman said.

Sharma will work as Officer on Special Duty (OSD) in BOPPE and will take over as chairman of BOPEE after the present chairman's tenure ends, he said.

He said the cabinet has also confirmed the posting of Abdul Qayoum Manhas as Inspector General of Police Railways and promotion of Showkat Ali Mir, the Joint Director Fisheries, to Director Fisheries.
