"Crime Branch, Jammu has registered a criminal case against revenue officials-- Mohan Lal Sharma, Khadim Hussain, Manohar Singh, Baisakhi Ram and Hassan Bibi alias Bano for their involvement in the offences of cheating, fraud, forgery and criminal conspiracy in Jammu," Crime Branch officials said.
They were booked after a written complaint lodged by Auqaf Islamia, Administrator of Jammu alleging that nearly two acres of Wakf land notified as a graveyard in land records was removed from the records during the settlement operations and a part of it was registered in the name of Hassan Bibi fraudulently.
"The said Wakf land was divided in plots to facilitate its sale to the public. Four revenue officials had hatched a conspiracy with locals and prepared false revenue documents for the land," they said.
