"There is a need to exploit adventure tourism potential of the state especially sports like mountaineering and hiking," Jora said at the Platinum Jubilee celebration of J-K Mountaineering and Hiking Club here yesterday.
Jora pledged full support for revival of mountaineering and hiking in the state saying that Government is putting all possible efforts for development of adventure tourism.
He stressed upon the tour operators to explore new routes of hiking for connecting Kashmir and Ladakh regions.
Jora said tour operators are the principal agents to carry out the task.
The Minister maintained that if trekking is revived fully, it would provide employment opportunities in rural areas.
Minister of State for Tourism Nasir Aslam Wani said the state is the treasure of mountains and can be developed as capital of adventure tourism.

Wani said Kashmir has vast scope for other adventures like rafting because of its famous rivers.
He expressed hope that J-K Mountaineering and Hiking Club would come up with new goals though it has seen various ups and downs since its inception.
