J&J Medical India ties up with Indo UK Institutes of Health

Johnson & Johnson Medical India today said it has entered into a collaboration with the Indo UK Institutes of Health (IUIH) to deliver latest medical technology and surgical education in the country.
As part of this pact, the medical division of Johnson & Johnson will provide advanced medical technology and education in the field of orthopaedics to the 11 IUIH 'medicities' being established in India for better patient care and clinical outcomes, a statement said here.
The leading medical devices company will work closely with IUIH to deliver clinical education and skill upgradation programmes for healthcare professionals in these medicities. India has about 8,00,000 physicians with only 0.6 doctor per 1,000 population.

The IUIH programme is one of the world's largest healthcare initiatives currently underway, and is aimed at transforming the provision of quality healthcare and medical education services across India.
IUIH's medicities programme aims to establish 11 hospitals with medical colleges, with a total bed capacity of 11,000 and a throughput of between 1,100 and 1,650 students per year.
At the Indo-UK Technology Summit inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his British counterpart Theresa May earlier this week, IUIH announced Johnson & Johnson as its technology partner in orthopaedics.
"As a broadly-based healthcare company, we are privileged to be able to serve patients and healthcare professionals in India by working together with the Indo UK Institutes of Health towards our common goal of improving access to quality healthcare," Johnson & Johnson Medical India Managing Director Sushobhan Dasgupta said.
