This is the second such cabinet meeting of the government after the first one was held at Tangdhar in May this year.

"The holding of state cabinet meeting in remote areas is aimed at ascertaining problems confronting people in these areas and taking first-hand appraisal of development needs," an official spokesman said.

The move also provides opportunity to cabinet ministers and other top officials to interact with people and have personal assessment of their problems, he said, adding that the government will continue with its initiative in future.

Meanwhile talking to local residents on this occasion, Omar said equitable and all-round development of all the regions and sub-regions of the state remained utmost priority of his government, and special focus is being on development of remote and backward pockets.

Omar took stock of various development initiatives during the meeting and inaugurated a steel deck bridge on the Machil-Poshwari road built at a cost of about Rs 72 lakh.

He said bad pockets development fund has been doubled this year to Rs 52 lakh for the execution of special projects in Machil.
