J-K chief minister, governor hold hour-long meeting

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti today held an hour-long meeting with Governor N N Vohra and discussed various matters pertaining to the affairs of the state, an official spokesman said.
Governor Vohra and Mufti spoke on the internal security situation in the Valley, functioning of various departments, particularly the power development department, the social welfare department, the information department and the sports and youth affairs department, and the extent to which results have been achieved toward the goals set, the spokesman said.
The governor suggested that stringent measures be adopted in regard to departments which were not performing adequately, he said.
Vohra also discussed with Mufti the advantages of commencing the process of conducting elections to the panchayats and the urban local bodies without delay, he said.
The governor reiterated that the government must ensure prompt attention to public grievances, efficient delivery of public services and severe punishments to those involved in corruption, the spokesman added.
