J-K: Constable arrested in bribery case by vigilance sleuths

A constable was arrested by the sleuths of State Vigilance Organisation (SVO) for alleged involvement in corruption case in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir.
"We have arrested Constable Istkhar Ahmed Qureshi for his involvement in a case of corruption in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir," an SVO officer said.
A vigilance team was deputed to Mendhar belt in Poonch district and the accused police personnel was arrested and produced before Judge Anti-Corruption Court, Rajouri which remanded him in police custody.
Police are likely to quiz him regarding his alleged involvement in the instant case and some other missing links, the officer said.
Qureshi has been arrested in a case of fudging of prosecution documents and taking of bribe of Rs 2 lakh by Ajaz Ul Hassan, Senior Prosecuting Officer, Court Mendhar (Poonch), who was arrested yesterday.
Ajaz Ul Hassan was booked and arrested for demand and acceptance of bribe of Rs 2 lakh from Moulvi Mushtaq Ahmed of Panaid, Tehsil Kotranka in Rajouri district in lieu of helping him by not arraying him as an accused in a case in 2014.
Vigilance Organisation during sustained questioning of accused and further investigations into the case, found the involvement of Constable Qureshi presently posted in Court Mendhar, he said.
