Twenty-two persons were found smoking in public places such as bus stands and B C Road and fine was realised from them, officials said.

A team comprising personnel of Drugs and Food Control Organisation, Jammu and Kashmir carried out a special drive for securing compliance of Section 4 of the Cigarette and other Tobacco products (Prohibition of advertisement and regulation of trade and commerce, production, supply and Distribution) Act, 2003 that prohibits smoking in public places.

To create awareness, the team also installed signs at prominent public places that read "No Smoking Area: Smoking Here is an Offence".
