The DGP, accompanied by IGP (Kashmir) Munir Ahmad Khan, today visited Pulwama and Shopian, where he held police darbars and officers' meetings, a police spokesman said.
He said DIG (South Kashmir) S P Pani and SSP (Pulwama) Mohammad Aslam Choudhary briefed DGP Vaid on the security, the law and order situation and different measures taken by them.
The spokesman said Vaid visited the Pulwama District Police Lines, the under-construction women police station and inspected offices and the family quarters - three of which were damaged in a suicide attack on August 26.
The spokesman said that the DGP assured of a good number of light bullet-proof vests being procured for the personnel.
Vaid distributed relief items among the families affected by the fidayeen attack and assured them of help so that their residential quarters are ready as soon as possible.
