Discussing the preparedness for the ensuing yatra, Jammu region officers apprised the DGP about arrangements made with regard to security, traffic for all yatra routes from Lakhanpur to Jawahar Tunnel, a police spokesman said here.
Addressing a meeting of police officers from Jammu Zone, the DGP laid stress on better synergy among all stakeholders to make the yatra smooth and peaceful.
After assuming charge as DGP, Rajendra had convened his first meeting with provincial officers to take stock of the overall situation in the zone, besides preparedness for the yatra.
"Better coordination among all wings of the organisation, besides other security agencies, is necessary for ensuring safety of the people," the DGP said.

Rajendra, after seeking feedback from the officers, laid emphasize on maintaining better relations with the public at thana level. He said that people of the state have always cooperated with police at odd times and "we have succeeded in tackling tough situations with their cooperation".
The DGP discussed requirements with the officers and assured that all possible assistance would be provided to strengthen the infrastructure including communication, mobility and equipment.
He said that effective measures should be taken for the betterment of jawans, who are basic pillars of the department and perform their duties in hostile conditions at every nook and corner of the state.
Procedures with regard to welfare need to be simplified to benefit the personnel and their families within shortest possible period.
