"The selection of Rasool, a resident of Bijbehara in south Kashmir, in Team India would not only contribute to promote cricket in the state but also inspire and encourage many young cricketers and other sports persons to earn laurels for the state," Vohra said in his message here.
The 24-year-old Rasool became the first cricketer from Jammu and Kashmir to be included in the Indian cricket team.
The Governor said youths of the state are highly talented and given the enabling opportunities they can excel in sports, academics and all other arenas of human endeavour.
He has also wished him a spectacular career ahead, an official spokesman said.
