J-K govt asks docs not to leave HQs without permission

Jammu and Kashmir government today directed all the "specialist doctors" to remain present at their headquarters and not to leave the station without prior permission from the higher authorities.
"We direct all the specialist doctors to remain present at their headquarters and not leave the station without prior permission from the higher authorities so that their services are utilised during emergency cases," Minister for Health and Medical Education Choudhary Lal Singh said.
Singh, who inspected hospitals in Samba district, directed the hospital functionaries to depute at least 20 staff members including medicos and paramedical for night duty so that the ailing people do not face any inconvenience.

"Government is on a comprehensive plan to upgrade healthcare facilities in far-off areas of the State and bring them at par with the city hospitals," he said.
He said that any negligence on part of the officials would be viewed seriously.
The Minister asked the medicos to lay emphasis on bedding and cleanliness in their respective hospitals.
While taking stock of the status of drug supply to the hospitals, he called for better coordination among the executing agencies and the concerned departments for improved results on ground.
