The direction was passed by Chief Secretary B R Sharma who chaired a meeting of Administrative Secretaries here to review the attendance of government employees, an official spokesman said.
He said Sharma directed the Administrative Secretaries to ensure that all employees working in the departments under their administrative control including the subordinate offices attend to their duties regularly.
The Chief Secretary also instructed that employees, who remain un-unauthorisedly absent, should be asked to immediately report to their duties, failing which action as warranted under rules should be initiated against them, the spokesman said.
Kashmir valley is on the boil since July 9 following the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani.
Sixty-three people have been killed and over 8000 others injured in the widespread clashes.
