Further taking a dig at the BJP, he said after the Sukma Naxal attack, the Modi government "could not act tough against them (Maoists) due to vote bank politics".
"The Mehbooba Mufti government is hand in glove with terrorists (in Jammu and Kashmir) and the BJP should withdraw its support from it," he told reporters here.
The Rajya Sabha member also stressed on giving "full freedom" to security forces so that they can give a befitting reply to Naxalites for attacking the CRPF jawans in Chhattisgarh.
The Samajwadi Party had forged an alliance with the Congress ahead of the UP Assembly polls earlier this year, leaving 105 of the 403 seats for the latter while contesting on 298 seats itself.
The SP won on 47 seats, while the Congress managed to get only 7 seats which had left Congress workers wondering whether the alliance was of any use.
