Highly-placed sources in the state government said the Home Department had been directed to dismiss the two policemen Mohammad Shafi and Mohammad Abbas who had beaten the traffic sub inspector Mohan Lal.
Lal was roughed up by the two when he tried stop a carcade of Mohiuddin, Minister for Public Health Engineering, which did not follow the traffic signal during peak traffic hour at high security Zero Bridge area.
Mohiuddin distanced himself from the controversy saying his car had passed by and he should not be held responsible for what the vehicle behind him does.
"I am a law-abiding citizen and I would have definitely intervened if I had come to know that any such altercation had taken place," he said.
The two policemen were taken into custody last evening after a case under 307 (attempt to murder) was registered against them.
The traffic policeman was hospitalised with injury in his left eye.
Lal later claimed that he was hit with the butt of AK-47 rifles by the two accused.
