At a function organised on the occasion of May Day, People's Democratic Party (PDP) leaders said, instead of solving genuine problems faced by workers in the state, the ruling National Conference-Congress coalition is trying to gag their voices through oppressive means.
Alleging that the state government had betrayed the workers, PDP leaders said, "the government had signed agreements with employees, but never implemented them."
At another related event, leaders of the JK National Panthers Party (JKNPP) also accused the government of discriminating against the working class.
Expressing concern over non-implementation of the Minimum Wages Act and absence of working-hour regulations in the state, Thakur accused the state government of enforcing anti-people laws.
"The NC-Congress government is enforcing anti-people laws, like Delimitation Act on the people, while laws which are pro-working class are not enforced in the name of autonomy," Thakur alleged.
