J&K govt orders probe against SSP, two Dy Sps

Jammu and Kashmir government has ordered a probeagainst three police officers over alleged lapses which led to traffic snarls on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway on January 20-21.
The probe has been ordered against Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sanjay Kumar Kotwal, Deputy Superintendent of police (DySP) Nihar Rajan and DySP Safdar Hamid Samoon, who were then posted as incharge of the Jammu-Srinagar national highway.
Lalatendu Mohanti, ADGP Armed Police, has been appointed as Inquiry Officer to look "into the lapses and dereliction of duty by the three officers", Principal Secretary to Government, home department, R K Goyal said in an order here.
While Sanjay has been attached to police headquarters, Safdar and Nitin are attached with DIG South Kashmir Range in Anantnag. They were removed last week.
The Inquiry Officer shall complete the inquiry and submit his report to the Home Department within a period of one month from the date of issuance of this order, Goyal said.
