"To restore the pristine historical glory of Maharaja Poonch palace, the state government is contemplating its conservation and restoration work," state minister for Tourism and Culture, Nawang Rigzin Jora said.
Jora visited the palace complex and took stock of the required conservation and restoration work.
The minister directed the State Archives and Tourism department authorities to initiate necessary process in this regard and formulate conservation plan so that the work on the palace could be started soon.
A number of such state monuments have already been conserved in the last three years, Jora said.
The conservation work of Hari Parbat fort at Srinagar, Bahu Fort at Jammu, Chingus fort at Rajouri besides other historical buildings, temples, monasteries and shrines have been completed, the minister said.
He said due attention was also given to preserve ancient manuscripts, paintings and artifacts.
Conservation and restoration of Mubarak Mandi palace was also on priority list of the government, he said adding, the work has been assigned to Archaeological Survey of India.
