The seat of the Jammu and Kashmir government will be closed in the winter capital of Jammu on April 28 and resume from the summer capital Srinagar on May 8, as part of the biannual Darbar move.
The government offices observing five-day week will close at Jammu on April 28 (Friday) and those observing six-day week will close on 29th April (Saturday) after the office hours, an order issued by the state government said here today.
"All the offices shall reopen at Srinagar on May 08 (Monday)", the order said.
Darbar move is a century-old practice started by the then Maharaja of Jammu and Kashmir who used to shift his capital between Srinagar (Summer) and Jammu (winter) to escape extreme weather conditions at these places.
All departments have been asked to depute their advance parties on 24th April consisting of one gazetted officer and four to five non-nazetted employees to receive the records at Srinagar, it said.
The J&K SRTC has been asked to make available sufficient number of buses in good condition for transportation of Kashmir-based employees on 29th and 30th April and Jammu-based employees on 6th and 7th May.
